How we verify HVAC listing requests
These are our review standards before publishing a new listing from a business request. They explain what we check and what a directory listing can tell you. Publication and verification of the owner's authority are separate steps.
A real contractor and its own website
We check that the business has its own working website and that it provides HVAC contracting services. We list HVAC contractors only. Suppliers, distributors, lead-generation or call-routing services, and adjacent trades such as stand-alone duct-cleaning outfits are outside our scope.
We match the phone number and any email we list to contact details published on the business's own site. A contact entered in a request is not enough by itself, and a private submitter email is not automatically a public business contact.
License information checked at the source
Where the state licenses HVAC work, we check the state license lookup against the business and license information in the request. Examples of the authorities we use are theNorth Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractorsand theTexas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Some states and cities handle licensing locally; the authority for the project address matters.
Our HVAC licensing by state guideis a starting point for your own check. This review standard for new requests does not mean every existing directory listing has a verified license. License information is shown when available from a submitted or public source. Unless a profile explicitly states that a credential was reviewed, treat it as unverified and confirm it with the applicable authority.
Duplicates and sourced facts
We check a request against existing listings before adding a new one. Repeated requests or a shared website need to be considered together; separate submissions do not by themselves establish separate local contractors.
We publish sourced business facts. We do not invent ratings, reviews, years in business, prices, or awards to fill gaps. A listing can be incomplete or become outdated, and a submitted claim is not automatically a verified fact.
What “Claimed & owner verified” means
The badge means the business owner, or a representative authorized to act for the business, has verified ownership through our secure claim portal and activated the free claimed profile. In the portal, the claimant confirms they own the business or are authorized to act for it and completes the ownership checks presented there. A successful login or newsletter subscription alone does not prove ownership.
The public claim page also offers manual review without an account or newsletter subscription. We confirm authority using the phone number or email published on the listing. Sending that form does not immediately grant control or mark the listing claimed. See thefree listing claim terms.
Owner verification concerns control of the profile. It is not a rating of workmanship, confirmation of insurance, or a guarantee about a future job. An unclaimed listing is not an endorsement. Homeowners should confirm current licenses, the scope of the credential, and insurance themselves before hiring, whether a listing is claimed or unclaimed.
